The Cowichan Valley Car Picnic was started by a group of friends in 1985, who decided it would be fun to take their cars for a drive through the country and stop for a Picnic Lunch somewhere. One of these was John Queen, who was a House Master at Brentwood School. He suggested we use one of the playing fields at the School. From this idea of a "fun" event for "Car Nuts" or "Petrol Heads" and their families. The Cowichan Valley Car Picnic grew into what it is today. The best "fun" car event on Vancouver Island and also the longest running. Recently the Rotary Club of South Cowichan (Mill Bay), in cooperation with founding organizers, took over the organization of the event. Rotary is delighted to be able to reinvest any funds raised by this event back to the community.
